Dear
Friend: If
you are a veteran, know a veteran, or are a family member of a
veteran, I invite you to attend one of the following meetings I am
having for veterans, military members, and their families and to
bring your questions.
These
meetings will take place from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. Congress
has made tremendous progress in achieving historic gains for
veterans’ programs. But, I want to make sure the gains being
claimed in Washington are working on the ground here in West
Virginia for vets, military members, and their families. I
want to get feedback about, gauge the success of, and will seek
suggestions on the program additions, service improvements and
benefit enhancements Congress has made. A
recent survey I did found over half of the respondents said they
were unsatisfied with the VA benefits application process or it
needed to be improved. Nearly 57% said they did not think the
VA provided enough health support services for Post Traumatic
Stress, depression and other combat-related mental health
conditions. Therefore,
I am assembling an “A” list of veterans and service personnel
resource representatives to be on hand to hear from you. The
agencies created for you need the best understanding possible to
best help you , so these will be important discussions –
conversations, if you will. By coming together we can get better
understanding – and maybe some on-the-spot help. If
